Sep 19, 2021 - Grade 5 (Sunday PM)

Hari Om Parents,

We are glad to welcome all kids to the classroom this year. Happy to see children who are back after the summer break and also good to see some fresh new people joining Balavihar from this year as well. We look forward to a mutually rewarding and exciting experience in Balavihar this year with your children.

The following is a brief summary of our session on Sunday.
We commenced our first class with Om chanting and opening prayers of,
  • Sahana Vavatu
  • Vakratunda mMahakaya
  • Saraswati namastubhyam
  • Guru Brahma
We then had a brief introduction of ourselves and then each kid got a chance to talk about themselves, followed by a game of A-Z with countries as the topic.
We spoke about the zoom class etiquette and the Do's and Don'ts to adhere to while in class.
We discussed our current year's curriculum which is as follows
  • Mahabharata (up until Viraata Parvam)
  • India the sacred land - Children will be introduced to the Guru Parampara and some Indian saints and great sages such as Adi Shankaracharya, Kabir das, Meera Bai Etc.,
  • Bhagavad Gita - Slokas 39-79
  • Ganesha Pancharatnam and Ganeshastavam
We will be making sure that the children learn to sing the Jaya Jagadesha Hare Arthi and the Chinmaya Arthi this year. Apart from this, we will be teaching them some assorted small Bhajans.

Since we all just celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi, we thought it would be a great way to pique the interest of the kids by making them participate in the discussion about the significance of the festival, B
irth of Lord Ganesha, Modaks as Prasad, clay/turmeric Idol of the Lord, Visarjan Etc.,
While talking about the story and pooja rituals we explained the symbolism behind each aspect.

Please make sure kids have My Prayers book, Balavihaar handbook,  Notebook and a pen for every class.

Finally, we ended our class with Arti and Pledge. As it was our first class of this year we had a common Aarti along with other grades. Going forward it will be in our respective classes.

We will send you weekly updates on the progress and topics covered in the classroom to the email that you registered with us.

Welcome to Exciting 2021-2022 Balavihar program.
