HARI OM Parents,

We had a short class this week on account of Saraswati pooja. Our session started with chanting OM 3 times and reciting opening prayers of, 
  • Sahana Vavatu
  • Vakratunda MahAkAya
  • Saraswati Namsatubhyam
  • Guru Brahma
  • SuklAmbharadaram 
  • KarAgre Vasathe Lakshmi
Each sloka was read aloud by an individual kid.
We worked on getting perfect with the first stanza of Ganesha Pancharatnam. 

SAINTS OF INDIA
We finished second half of Adi Shankaracharya's biography covering the topics of his stay in Varanasi, composing Bhaja Govindam, meeting a chandala and realizing him as none other Lord Shiva himself, going back to his mother during her final days and finally his 4 main disciples and the 4 ashrams that he established in India. 

NAVRATHRI
We talked about the recent Navrathri festival that we celebrated. Topics included..
  • Meaning of Navrathri 
  • 2 different kinds of Navrathri's - Vasant or Chaitra and Sarad. 
  • Goddess Durga worshipped as Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Saraswati 
  • Legends of the festival - Goddess Durga killing Mahishasura, Lord Rama killing Ravana
  • Nine forms of Durga
  • How it is celebrated in different cultures - Dandiya, Golu, Fasting etc.,
Finally, Kids participated in the virtual Saraswati pooja. 

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Request to the parents to make sure there are no technical glitches. A few kids had audio difficulties and could not participate in our discussions. Also, kindly ask the kids to keep their videos on.
