Please have the kids make it a habit to practice their daily prayers. ty
Krishnashtakam : We practised the first three shlokas and learnt the fourth shloka : Mandara -gandha-samyuktam caruhasam caturbhujam, barhi-picchava-cudangam - Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum
We explained the meaning - The one who has fragrance of the paste of Mandara flowers, He who has a gentle smile and four hands. He is the one wearing the peacock feather on His head, I bow to you O Lord Krishna, the guru of the world.
We then opened the floor for discussion about the festival that's around the corner...Deepavali/Diwali. The kids were great at telling us reasons why we celebrate. We concluded by saying that it is always a celebration of the victory of good over evil or light over darkness.
Then we discussed our favorite part of Deepavali, we got firecrackers, food/sweets, spending time with family and friends, dressing up, pooja, rangolis...We totally felt the festive spirit!
The class was then asked to share what they were gonna dress up as today. They were visibly excited to share a description of their costumes!!!
We then moved on to a quiz to earn house points. The kids answered 15 questions, with the help of a map of India. The class did an awesome job coming up with the answers and teamwork. Once the quiz was completed, we joined the full session group to watch the presentations of the high schoolers. They did an awesome job!
Krishna's Cowboys were our Sunday morning session's overall winners today. We helped our team score points. Congratulations! We concluded the assembly with the pledge.
Note:
We will have NO Balavihar next Sunday, in observance of Deepavali. Wishing you all a very happy, bright, beautiful, sweet and safe Deepavali. Please do share a pic or two with the class.
Pranam,
Neelima & Keerthi
