Hari om everyone,
Here are the highlights from our previous class. We started the class with meditation. In our chanting segment, we chanted 'geetaa dhyaanam' and verses 39 - 66 from 'BG chapter 2'.
We started the class with a simple analysis of any given scenario. The questions asked essentially led toward reasonings as below -
So, we decided that there is no point in worrying about any situation in life, really! Either we can do something about it or we cannot. In either case, worry is not useful.
Arjuna was worried and concerned that he will have to fight with his near and dear ones. Lord Krishna explained to him why his worry was baseless.
To explain that, we asked our students where is God. Their answers were - inside us, everywhere, in everything, wherever we see, etc.
Then we asked about God's life span. They said - infinite, endless, etc.
When asked the same about humans, answers were - 60 yrs, 85 yrs, 90 yrs, etc.
To understand this better, we used the example of a water bottle. If the water bottle is the world then water filled to the brim is God (because He is everywhere in the world). So, would I be able to put a pebble into the bottle now? No! Because, some water will have to flow out to accommodate the pebble. But then, God is 'everywhere' already! Where is He (water) going to go and make space for the pebble?! (Can't overflow because the bottle is the entire universe already).
So, this shows that God is in us also! We are NOT a separate entity (pebble), to have a 'separate' existence! But then, God's life span is infinite and we said human life is a finite number of years!! This is THE BIGGEST conflict in our understanding and this is what leads us to delusion about our own true nature. This misunderstanding is what leads to all problems and worries in life!
This might seem like a tall order to comprehend right now! But we promise we will work on understanding this profound statement slowly... It is not an easy concept to grasp in one go!
We also discussed this picture to establish what matters the most!
We will discuss more as to what we mean by all these terminologies and analogies.
See you in the next class.
Regards,
Rashmi and Raghav.
