Sept 19, 2021 - Grade 6 (Sunday AM)

Hari OM Dear Families,


With Pujya Gurudev's Grace and our Swami ji's blessings we have started our Bala Vihar year today.

Here is this week's update.

Week 1:
19th September 2021 / 9:15AM
Shlokas
Class began with opening prayers. 3 Oms and followed by Sahanavavathu,
Om Sree Ganeśaya Namaha, Sree Saraswatyai Namaha, Sree Sat Gurubhyo Namaha.
We started the session with every student talking about their summer. 
We did a recap of Mahabharata part 1 they learned from last year.
*King shantanu, Ganga and ashta vasus as kids, Devavratha to Bhishma.
*sathyavathi- Chitrangatha, vichitravirya to Ambika and Ambalika and kids Dhritarashtra, Pandu and Vidura.
*Their wedding to Gandhari, Kunti-madri
*Birth of Pandavas and Kauravas.
*Death of Pandu and Madri self immolation and kunti with kids returning to Hasthinapura
*The growing jealousy. Enter Guru Drona. Princes are good learners.
*The wax palace story, The eka chakra episode, Hidimbi weds bhima and Draupadi swayamvara
*Back to Hasthinapura. barren Khandavprastha turning Indraprastha and the raja sooya yagna
*The game of dice and the cheating episode. Dishonoring Draupadi.
*The Exile period (Arjuna's expedition to gather celestial astras)
*The agnyatavasa in disguise- Brihannala helping out Uttarakumara and revealing his originality and perfectly ending one year of disguise.
Our topic for this year will continue from Uththara -Abhimanyu wedding and forward.
Our next lesson this year is India, the sacred land.
We have given a year long project on how the children see India in their perspective and shared a slide deck with topic outlines and prompts. 
We discussed the first Lesson. God- an awesome secret

*God- An awesome secret- Guru the guiding force

*Guru- the teacher- the torch bearer (the lineage, unique and only in Indian tradition)

*Guru sishya parampara- From Lord Shiva to Adi Shankara to Pujya Gurudev, Guruji and Swamiji.

Gita Time- This year we will learn the  remaining verses of Gita chapter 2 (verses 39 and up) We saw our Swamiji's video regarding the learning and importance of Gita

Our next class is  on September 26th. Please note the following important information:


Class Rules: 

  1. Class starts at 9:15am; we will be logged in to the classroom by 9am, so please make sure the children are logged in before 9:15am. We will not admit anyone during opening prayers.

  2. Children should log in with their name and have their videos on and be present in the frame - the waiting room will be enabled in Zoom and we cannot admit anyone with a name we do not see in the roster or whose video is not on.

  3. No eating or drinking beverages during the class time - we request that the children treat the virtual classroom just as they would the classes in the ashram.

  3. Notebook/loose leaf sheets and folder,  pencil/pen for taking notes and likhita japa. Children can use  likhita japa notebooks if they have them.
