Hari Om Parents!
Today was the Second class of Balavihar 2021-2022!! Here is the summary of what we covered in class today:
After everyone joined the Zoom session:
1. We started the class with the Opening prayers. We chanted Om three times and then chanted Sahana vavatu. Kids joined along with parents.
2.Then attendance was taken by each kid responded with HariOm when their name was called.
3. After this, we explained the meaning of each word in the Opening prayers and from next class we will have breakrooms and make kids practice the Opening prayers.
4. For Brain Storming session we discussed three basic questions: Who is God ? Where is God ? and What does God do? Kids actively provided responses and then we explained that God is one who can do things that no one can do, God is everywhere and God makes impossible things possible.
5.This was further explained thru the story of the Three Questions, we learnt that God is the only person who can make a brown cow who eats green grass give white milk, and like the light of a lamp/candle which can shine everywhere, God is everywhere and God is the one who can do anything and make impossible things possible like Make the Cook sit on the King's throne and make the minister bow to the cook thinking him to be the King and make the King step down from his throne.
6. After this, for Yoga time, we did Jumping Jacks, Tree pose, and Butterfly pose - during this time, we flew to the ice cream shop and ordered all our favorite ice creams and flew back to the class.
7. Then we did Body scan meditation and quietened our minds.
8.Then for the Exploration time, we asked kids if they can hide in some place which is not under the sky? Kids came up with some ideas but then realized, that all those places are still under the sky and that Sky is everywhere and can be seen. We explained that same way God is everywhere, although cannot be seen.
9. This was illustrated again through the Story: Who is watching ? that God is everywhere , no one can hide from him and he is always seeing, listening, and is ever ready to help us and that God loves us. Kids happily shared their thoughts and learnt the essence of this story.
10. Then we did a Brainstorming session on the topic How can we see God ? and what is a sweet mind ? We discussed that we can see God if we have a sweet mind and by a sweet mind we mean a person who has good thoughts and actions and is always kind, helpful to everyone and who does not hurt others. And we can develop a sweet mind by learning the alphabets in the Vedantic way, through which learn a special meaning for each of the Alphabets and follow it in our daily life.
11. Then kids were asked to color the Alphabet Safari coloring sheet as homework.
12. After this we said the closing prayers and completed the class for today.
It was a great session with active participation by all kids. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with your wonderful kids and looking forward to all the classes, please encourage kids to join each zoom class by 9:15am every Sunday. Special thanks to the parents for sitting through today's session.
Please keep a separate folder, for kids to keep all their completed coloring sheets and activity work. Each week we will be learning one or more alphabets and do the related coloring/activity work.
